How to Add Your DynTube Fire TV Feed to an Amazon Fire TV Channel

DynTube generates an Amazon Fire TV-compatible MRSS (Media RSS) feed for the published videos in one of your projects. Use that feed as the catalogue source in a Fire TV app you build and submit with Amazon's current developer tooling.

Before You Begin

You'll need:

  • A DynTube plan that includes TV app feeds — the Fire TV feed pages are entitlement-gated, and creating a feed without the entitlement is refused
  • An account permission that allows managing the account, which is what reveals the Add Fire TV Feed action
  • A project that already contains published videos — a feed over a project with no published video does not render
  • An Amazon developer account, and a Fire TV app you build with Amazon's current developer tooling

Create Your Fire TV Feed in DynTube

  1. Log in to your DynTube dashboard.
  2. In the sidebar, open More tools → Fire TV. The page is /feeds/fire-tv.
  3. Click Add Fire TV Feed (/feeds/fire-tv/add).
  4. Title — required. This becomes the channel title in the feed XML.
  5. Select Project — required. Search for the project by name and select it; the videos in that project are the videos in the feed.
  6. Managing Editor — required for Fire TV, and format-checked. Enter an email address followed by the editor name in parentheses, for example [email protected] (Editor Name). A value that does not match that shape is rejected on save.
  7. Language Code — required for Fire TV. Use an ISO language code such as en-US, es-ES or fr-FR.
  8. Sort Order — optional. Newest first, oldest first, name A–Z or name Z–A. Newest first is the default.
  9. Click Create Feed.

Get Your DynTube Fire TV Feed URL

  1. Return to More tools → Fire TV (/feeds/fire-tv).
  2. Find your feed in the list — the Feed URL is shown on the row.
  3. Use Copy URL from the row menu to copy it, or Open Feed to request it in a new tab.

The URL is built from the feed's key, not from the feed's internal id:

example
https://api.dyntube.com/v1/feeds/fire-tv/<YOUR_FEED_KEY>

Paste that URL wherever your Fire TV app is configured to read its Media RSS catalogue.

What the Feed Contains

  • RSS/MRSS XML served as application/rss+xml
  • A channel title taken from the feed's Title field, and a channel language taken from your Language Code
  • An atom self-link that matches the public URL the feed was requested from
  • Only videos whose status is Published, in the single project selected on the feed, ordered by Sort Order and capped at 1000 items
  • Per item: title, description, link, publication date, media URL, file size, duration in seconds, thumbnail, and your Managing Editor value as the author
  • A channel description taken from the first item's description, falling back to that item's title when it has none

Feed Updates

The XML is rendered from your current data each time the feed is requested, so a change you make in DynTube is eligible to appear in the next successfully rendered feed response. Whether it appears there still depends on processing and publication state, and on any caching in front of the feed. It is not in your app until the app fetches the feed again.

  • Adding, removing or editing videos changes what the next feed request returns
  • Your app shows the change at its next successful feed fetch — the app and the platform control that schedule, not DynTube
  • CDN, proxy or platform-side caching between your app and the feed can delay the change further
  • DynTube never pushes an update to an app; there is no synchronisation callback

Validate Your Feed

Request the feed URL yourself before wiring it into an app — use Open Feed from the row menu, a browser tab, or a command line request. A working feed returns XML whose channel title is your feed Title, with one item per published video.

example
curl -i https://api.dyntube.com/v1/feeds/fire-tv/<YOUR_FEED_KEY>

The feed responds with 400 Bad Request when the feed key is unknown and when the selected project has no published videos. Those two cases are deliberately indistinguishable from outside.

Troubleshooting

Feed returns 400, or videos are missing

  • Check that the feed key in the URL matches the one shown on the feed row — copy it rather than typing it
  • Check that the project selected on the feed actually contains videos whose status is Published; drafts and unpublished videos are excluded
  • Videos restricted to app-only playback are excluded from feeds when app-only scoping is enabled
  • Confirm the feed URL is requested from the DynTube API host that issued it; a feed is not served to a request for a different brand's host

Feed will not save

  • Managing Editor must be an email address followed by the editor name in parentheses — [email protected] (Editor Name)
  • Title, Project and Language Code are all required; a missing one blocks the save
  • If the feed pages report a plan restriction, TV app feeds are not included in your current plan

Feed is correct but the app is stale

  • Request the feed URL directly and confirm the change is present in the XML
  • If it is present, the delay is on the app or platform side — wait for the next successful fetch, or use whatever refresh control your app tooling provides
