Usage planning

Plan video delivery around the way people actually watch

Every standard plan includes storage for your library and monthly delivery for playback. Fair use keeps those shared resources aligned with normal personal and business streaming, while custom plans give larger libraries and audiences a clear path to the capacity they need.

What your plan includes

Storage and delivery are separate parts of the same workload

Choose a plan by looking at both numbers. A large archive with a small audience behaves differently from a short catalogue watched every day.

  • Video storage

Storage represents the media held in your account. Source choices, generated renditions and the size of the library all influence the amount you need.

  • Monthly video delivery

Delivery is the data streamed to viewers. It grows with plays, watch time and the quality selected by adaptive playback rather than with uploads alone.

  • Adaptive streaming

The player moves between available renditions as connection conditions change. Estimate a realistic average bitrate instead of multiplying every view by the largest source file.

  • Usage reporting

Account reporting shows actual plays and delivery, helping you replace assumptions with your own viewing pattern after launch.

  • Peak-month planning

Launches, enrolment windows and live campaigns can create a month unlike the average. Size the plan around a realistic peak when that pattern is part of your business.

  • Custom capacity

For requirements beyond standard plan bands, use the custom estimator or contact the team with separate storage and delivery figures.

Estimate before choosing

Build a useful delivery estimate in four steps

  1. 01

    1. Start with monthly viewers

Use a typical month and a peak month. If the video sits inside a paid course or product, use enrolled or active customers rather than total website traffic.

  2. 02

    2. Apply realistic watch time

A play is rarely the full runtime. Use completion data from your current platform where available, or model more than one watch-time scenario.

  3. 03

    3. Choose an average delivered bitrate

Adaptive playback serves different qualities to different viewers. The bandwidth calculator lets you test a practical average instead of assuming every session stays at the highest rendition.

  4. 04

    4. Leave room for growth and campaigns

Add the launches, seasonal peaks and audience growth already in your plan. Then compare the result with the live plan cards and the custom estimator.

Choose the right path

Standard plan or custom plan?

Your library and normal monthly viewing fit a published band
A standard plan is the simplest option when both storage and delivery sit comfortably inside its included amounts.
On DynTube — Compare the current plan cards and select the band that leaves sensible room for growth.
Your archive is large but viewing is modest
Storage may determine the configuration even when delivery remains low.
On DynTube — Enter storage and delivery separately in the custom estimator so one large number does not distort the other.
A campaign creates predictable delivery peaks
Averages hide launch weeks, enrolment periods and scheduled releases.
On DynTube — Model the peak month and share the schedule when requesting a custom plan.
Your audience is already beyond standard plan bands
A tailored configuration provides a clearer basis for large, sustained workloads.
On DynTube — Send the team your library size, typical delivery and peak delivery for a capacity review.

Questions

Fair-use and bandwidth questions

Where can I see the included storage and bandwidth?

The current pricing page publishes the storage and monthly delivery included with each standard hosting plan. Use those live plan cards as the source when choosing a plan.

Can I estimate bandwidth from video views?

Views are only the first input. Watch time and the bitrate actually delivered determine the data transferred, so two videos with the same view count can use very different amounts.

How does adaptive streaming affect the estimate?

The player can serve a lower or higher rendition as a viewer’s connection changes. Model a realistic average delivered bitrate and test a range in the calculator.

What should I do for a larger library or audience?

Use the custom-plan estimator to enter storage and delivery independently, then contact the team with the resulting workload and any known peak periods.

Choose capacity with your own viewing pattern

Start with the live plan allowances, model a peak month, and ask for a custom configuration when your workload needs one.
