How to Create a Video Feed for Roku & Fire TV

DynTube enables you to create video feeds compatible with Roku and Amazon Fire TV platforms, expanding your content reach to smart TVs and streaming devices. A feed publishes the published videos of one project at a stable URL: Roku as JSON, Fire TV as MRSS (Media RSS) XML.

Why Create TV Feeds?

  • Broader Audience: Reach viewers who prefer watching content on their TV
  • Professional Presence: Establish your brand on major streaming platforms
  • Easy Management: Manage the catalogue behind your TV app from the DynTube dashboard

Before You Begin

  • A DynTube plan that includes TV app feeds — the feed pages are entitlement-gated
  • An account permission that allows managing the account
  • A project containing published videos; a feed over a project with no published video does not render

  3. Fill in the required fields: Title, Project, at least one Feed Genre, and Provider Name.

How Feed Updates Reach Your TV App

Feeds are generated from your current data every time they are requested, so an edit in DynTube is eligible to appear in the next successfully rendered feed response. Whether it appears there still depends on processing and publication state, and on any caching in front of the feed. Reaching a viewer's TV takes longer again, because the app decides when to fetch:

  • No Manual Updates Required: you never republish or regenerate a feed by hand
  • New and removed videos are reflected at your app's next successful feed fetch — the app and the platform control that schedule, not DynTube
  • Metadata such as title, description and thumbnail follows the same next-successful-fetch path
  • CDN, proxy or platform-side caching between the app and the feed can delay the change further
  • DynTube does not push updates to Roku or Fire TV; there is no synchronisation callback

To confirm a change is live on the DynTube side, request the feed URL directly. If the change is in that response, any remaining delay belongs to the app or the platform.
