Get Video for Mobile App/Custom Player
Get HLS & MP4 URLs for mobile app or custom player
You can use the Get Single Video endpoint to get the details of the video.
You will need to look for the following fields in the JSON response.
- hlsUrl
- hlsUrlWeb
- Mp4Url
- mp4Urls (array of renditions, if enabled)
The field hlsUrl can be used to play the videos in any of the native video players that support HLS adaptive streaming.
The field hlsUrlWeb can be used to play the videos in any HTML5-based video players that support HLS adaptive streaming.
The mp4Url field can be used in native or HTML5-based video players. MP4 is not an adaptive streaming format, so the player cannot switch resolutions dynamically based on the viewer's connection speed.
Choose the playback field
- Use hlsUrl with native mobile playback libraries that accept an HLS manifest.
- Use hlsUrlWeb with an HLS-capable HTML5 player in a browser or web view.
- Use mp4Url for a single MP4 source, or select a rendition from mp4Urls when multiple MP4 outputs are enabled.
Integration workflow
- Call Get Video from your trusted backend with the video ID and API key.
- Confirm the video is published and select a populated URL for the playback format your player supports.
- Pass the selected playback URL to the mobile or custom player without exposing the management API key.
- Use token authentication when the playback link requires temporary signed access.
