Channels

Delete a Channel

Delete a channel when its collection, public URL, and embeds should be retired. The account-scoped operation marks the matching channel deleted. Prepare replacement links first so viewers and applications do not continue requesting the removed channel.

Request

HTTP
DELETE https://api.dyntube.com/v1/channels/{id}
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY
Path parameter
NameTypeRequiredDescription
idStringYesChannel ID owned by the authenticated account

Prepare the channel

  1. Get the channel and confirm the ID, name, project references, and video order.
  2. Find websites, learning systems, apps, bookmarks, and internal records using its URL or embed.
  3. Create a replacement channel when viewers should continue to receive the same collection.
  4. Update each dependency and verify the replacement before deleting the old channel.
  5. Require an explicit confirmation in your own administrative workflow.

JavaScript example

Server-side JavaScript
const channelId = encodeURIComponent(input.channelId);
const response = await fetch(
  `https://api.dyntube.com/v1/channels/${channelId}`,
  {
    method: "DELETE",
    headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.DYNTUBE_API_KEY}` },
  },
);

if (response.status === 404) {
  throw new Error("Channel was not found for this account");
}
if (!response.ok) {
  throw new Error(`Channel deletion failed: ${response.status}`);
}

console.log("Channel deletion accepted");

Deletion scope

The route changes the channel record's status. Videos and projects are separate resources and remain available according to their own status and settings. Existing channel URLs and embeds should be replaced because the deleted channel is no longer available for normal use.

Verify the result

  • 200 OK with an empty body means the matching channel was marked deleted.
  • 404 Not Found means no matching channel was visible to the authenticated account.
  • Request the channel again and refresh the channel list after a successful response.
  • Open every replacement embed or application route and test playback with its intended access rules.
  • Record the channel ID, actor, request time, response status, and replacement destination.
